State Secretary Kangler Pays Official Visit to the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SLOVENIA, September 23 - The purpose of the two-day visit was to review the migration situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, assess current trends in irregular migration, and discuss the measures planned and implemented in this area. The visit also provided an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations, explore opportunities for further cooperation, and support Bosnia and Herzegovina in managing migration flows, thereby contributing to reduce migration pressure on Slovenia. The visit forms part of Slovenia’s continued cooperation with the law enforcement and migration authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During their talks, State Secretary Kangler and Acting Minister of Security Bošnjak focused primarily on current security situation and issues related to irregular migration and migration flows passing through Bosnia and Herzegovina towards EU member states. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and the timely exchange of information on emerging migration and security developments between the competent authorities of the two countries.

State Secretary Kangler also met with Žarko Laketa, Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, to discuss the management of irregular migration, the status of foreign nationals residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the operations of competent agencies in managing migration flows. They exchanged views on the current situation and practical experience in addressing irregular migration, while exploring opportunities for further cooperation.

State Secretary Kangler also visited the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he met with Deputy Director Ensad Korman and representatives of the agency. Discussions focused on border control, unauthorized border crossings, and migration flows across the country.

Additionally, State Secretary Kangler toured the Lipa temporary reception centre, where he was received by Almin Imamović, Assistant Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs. He was briefed on the centre's operations, accommodation standards, migrant processing procedures, and the current situation on site.
